Dayton had work in California so after D.C. Winnie and I headed out to join him. My aunt and uncle were so sweet to let us stay with them. We don't see them aton so I was really excited to get some quality time. Our first day we arrived Winnie and I headed straight to the beach. My aunt warned my about traffic but I wanted to show Winnie the ocean so bad. We played for hours in the water and people watched. On the way home from the beach was sooo fun. Two hours in L.A. traffic. Can't say I wasn't warned!
Almost everyone in my aunt's family is a doctor. Both of her parents, sister, brother-in-law, my uncle, and she is too. IS THAT REAL LIFE? Medicine fascinates me and I tried to casually pick apart everyones brain about their jobs. 'Hey, I know you talk about moles, patients, and surgery all day but do you want to talk about it some more with someone who is probably somewhere in our conversation ask you if you like Grey's Anatomy?' Which I did. I should be more embaraased than I actually am.
Other highlights were attending Alexander's baseball game, pedicures, shopping in Old Town Pasadena, and watching old movies.
"Teta Eva" and "Dad Rashad" (Evette's parents) are the nicest people in the world. When Winnie and I arrived at the house Rashad let us in. He immediately squeezed Winnie's arm and said "I've heard about you special girl." My heart almost exploded. I am so grateful we have people around us who love Winnie so much. One night at dinner Winnie was being a stink about eating and Eva was up and down grabbing Winnie pasta or yogurt and telling me to sit and mingle. This is completely how my Mom and Rondalee are with me too! Evette's family is Egyptian and all weekend her parents kept calling Winnie "Habibi" just like they did all their other grandkids. She was one of their own! I want to insert so many emoji's so I can fully describe how much I love her family. They (Evette's parents) have been building a home for quite some time too. Anytime it gets brought up they always say "It's been TOO long" haha but it's unreal! They've done an amazing job with it.
The California leg of our trip went by too fast and we were off to Las Vegas before we knew what hit us! We had to come back to the house real quick after we already left to Vegas and I ran to give Alexander a hug and we both started crying. It was an awful goodbye! Our long weekend was filled with so many fun memories being a little addition to their family.
My mom and her brother are identical!
I'm moving in....
