Last night Winnie was happily up until around 11pm. So we left in our pajamas and drove her around to get her to sleep. She was out within five minutes haha. We went to the Gilbert temple then went to Wendys? I dont know, so weird. She slept with us, of course, and woke up around 3:45am. It's so hard to not nurse her first thing in the morning because I AM SO FULL. She was a little cranky but we've given her a free pass to watch as much Elmo as she wants during all this. So we tried to give her a little more juice and turned on Elmo. She immediately starts rocking back and forth and smiling huge at us while the theme song plays and we just sit there smiling, barely consious. We're pretty dead and I'm sure she's starving but in true Winnie fashion she's still smiling and dancing. She didn't drink very much and it's hard. I knew she only had a certain amount of time she could drink until so I tried to push it on her but the girl wouldn't have it! We packed up our bags and charged our phones. I handed her off to my mom so we could get ready. Right before we left we all got blessings. We got to the hospital around 6 am and checked in, paid co-pays, and signed paper work.
We went up to the surgery floor and waited 5 minutes to get called back. Dayton's Dad, Tommy, came by and Winnie was in Heaven being able to still watch Elmo on Grandpa's Ipad. The nurse called us back and checked her weight, height, and switched her diaper. I think Wins knows something is going on because we lay her down on the table and it's immediate water works. Poor girl. We moved to another small room with the recliner. I'm glad I'm the Mom because I always get to sit in the recliner with her haha. We changed her into her mini hospital gown and put the little tape on her toe to check her heart rate. Of course, she tried to pull it off though. I love the little gown it kills me. She was pretty fussy so after the nurse left we turned off the lights and watched Tangled for 10 minutes or so. She cuddled on my chest until Doc 1 came in with his PA. His PA is so pretty! haha Can I be as smart as all these people?! I told Dayton I'm going to medical school and he says just become and actor and you can just pretend.
He checked her diaper to make sure she wasn't red with a diaper rash or anything. He discussed how long things could take, risks, and how the day will go. They probably won't start actual surgery until 9:30am because they have to position her, dress the room, and look inside with their cameras before they start. They should just be able to go through from her bottom and not from her tummy like the last time. He said it could take up to 6 hours for everything. We asked a few questions about how she'll be after she comes out and if she's able to crawl afterward. Crawling shouldn't be a problem and he acutally encouraged it to keep her body circulating well. I know everyone knows how obsessed I am with this doctor but he's just SO sweet with Winnie. She was gabbing aton and he's was pretending to translate for her and saying "Ya Winsley, I dont know what's going on in the Ukraine either." haha We love him. He said to not be surprised if we see him walking around everyonce and a while because often times with longer surgeries they scrub out and get food. Dayton and I had no problem with that! We'd always wondered how they could stay there for so long! He asked a few more questions and told Winnie "I'll take good care of you! You're in good hands." I'm seriously so grateful she has such incredible surgeons.
After they left the Anesthesiologist came in. I had never met this one before. I was kinda looking forward to seeing the Anesthesiolgist nurse who we knew from the beginning. She definitely gets her lips done haha but she is sooo nice. This Dr. was Middle Eastern and asked us the routine questions like if Winnie was allergic to medicines, medical history, and had us sign blood transfusion agreement. Hopefully we won't need that! She recommended to take out Wins earings so we packed them up and she left.
The scrub nurse and Tommy came in after. Went over alot of the same things that the other doctors had. He grabbed a warm blanket to take her back. She was getting pretty fussy and just was reaching for everything in the room. We gave her big hugs and smooches and handed her off. The nurse took her and she didn't cry one bit being separated. They walked down the hall and I was hoping she would turn around and look at us. She finally did right before the walked through the double doors. Phew. No major tears yet! So we have all our bags and have made ourself comfortable in our little corner of the waiting room. Dayton is currently passed out in the hall and I'm looking at pictures in fuzzy socks and jeans. Cute. :) Later we'll be trying to order our Uhaul and find a place to live while we wait. Maybe I can catch a few minutes of sleep, but we'll see!
I love watching the families in the waiting room get called back to go see their babies. Can't wait for our turn!
You guys are amazing parents! Wishing you all the best. Praying all went well and more questions are answered. We love you guys. Sorry we didn't get to chat much at Cha's shower. Things never slow down with kids! Maybe some day...
