I try my best to throw in a heartfelt posts everyonce in a while in an effort to be real on my blog.
I wanted to tell a story about this man and his wife/girlfriend/fling/partner.
So Dayton and I were seated right by the entrance of the metro getting ready to head home for the night in Paris when this black couple stepped on the metro. They started talking and of course I'm just staring (I have lots of tact) soon enough the woman gets off the train right before the doors close and she's looking at the other possible trains to take. Her man does not follow her. Dayton joked "Hey lady the trains gonna leave you" but the doors closed and we were off. The man sat right across from us and you could see the wheels turning in his brain. I thought of myself when Dayton and I disagree and I'm either in another room or doing something else and my my mind goes crazy. I kept thinking about what they were fighting about. He started mumbling to himself and looking out the window. What was he thinking? Did he wish he would have said something different? Ran after her instead of stay on the metro?
As amazing and so fun as our trip was there were stressful points for sure. We got lost, we carried huge backpacks, we were tired, and we were rushed to meet trains and find hotels. But when there was a disagreement or we couldnt figure out where to go we couldnt just hop on a train, go in the other room, wander else where in a museum, or take a walk alone. We needed each other. Fights were few and far between and never lasted long because I needed Dayton to make me feel safe walking those often scary streets at night. To be my map guide even if he wasnt always too sure where to go. And sometimes he needs me too, of course! Whether I'm half way across the world traveling Europe or right here in Mesa I need my honey all the time. There will be fights, but there are way more fun times than sad. Thats what you get with a comedian husband. I try and remember that man on the metro when I want to get upset or complain. I've learned to yes, communicate about issues but after just pack it away, then move on...together...and on the same train :)
Just look at him? Wish I could pinch his cheeks. oooo which cheeks? ;)
