Mt. Rainier

The day before Dayton headed down to Portland for work, his whole team took the day off and we packed our cars for a day trip to Mt. Rainier.  I haven't been on a road trip in a long time and it was fun to discover somewhere new.  A couple nights before I was reading about how Mt. Rainier is way over due to erupt and where we live is right in the line of fire if it explodes. Livin' on the edge over here!  The views of the volcano are amazing.  Every picture I took I thought, "eh not even close".  We winded up to the farthest part to a place called Paradise where you can take a little hike to the snow.  It was a hot day and I don't think any of us were prepared for the hills but there were these rivers and streams along the way with the coldest/best glacier water.  Ah, I want that right now!  The boys Dayton work with are so sweet.  The whole car ride they were entertaining Winnie, making sure the sun wasn't in her eyes, and feeding her Fig Newtons.  On the hike they took turns holding her and fought over who was next in line to carry her.

Dayton, Winnie, and I mayyy not have hiked the whole way. Again, getting lazy!! Dayton told one of his teammates, Holden, that there was sign to not drink the glacier water because there was poisonous algae in it.  All the sudden Holden starts feeling "sick." The boys were dying laughing but kept going with their story.  Ah you should have seen the look on Holdens face when Dayton told him he was kidding!  haha  When we got down the mountain we pulled over to this old train that was made into a pizza place.  Most of us hadn't eaten a single thing and it was 4pm by that time so everyone was getting grouchy.  The pizza wasn't great but doesn't everyone eat anything when you're that hungry :) We saw Rocky Point Lake in Eatonville on the way up with with the prettiest turquoise water you've ever seen.  We knew we had to come back and swim there!

The boys jumped in no problem but Charlcie and I were a little weary.  They brought floaties and swam out in the middle of the lake and played like little kids.  When you know how hard they work everyday it's so fun to see them relax.

I'm so glad we finally got to see Mt. Rainier before it explodes!  Dayton rarely has a full day off and I'm so glad we did something big for it.
