At our hospital the class was three hours once a week for two weeks. They covered so many things and clarified terms we've heard in passing. It was extremely beneficial and I would recommend it to anyone. We are taking it relatively late in pregnancy but I'm actually happy we're taking it so close to our due date. Not only would we remember more but it is so exciting to talk about everything because we were so close to having it become reality.
We watched a graphic natural birth which was a little intense but it was a good eye opener. Breathing practice felt a little silly too but I knew this is what would be necessary so we tried really hard! The class came with a hospital tour and let us know our options in terms of positions and stages of labor. The hospital tour was so fun. We now know where to go when we check in, what different rooms we could be in, and where the nursery is.
One night we were practicing the breathing techniques we somehow ended up singing the tribal chant from Finding Nemo. I'm glad Dayton is so willing to help me out in any way. He was hesitant to take the class, like I mentioned before, but anytime I say lets practice our breathing he's all for it. I think he feels alot more comfortable and eduacted just like I had hoped we both would. He'll be the best "coach" to his "little mom".
