Who doesn't love a good Wal-mart run! A couple of months I noticed when Dayton and I were at the grocery store he started up a conversation with the cashier. Asking her how her day was, how late she worked, if she had any big plans were that night. haha okay sounds creepy but it was very genuine and friendly.
Okay so not a big deal Dayton was just being nice, but this wasn't just this time it was at Frys, Bashas, and every other time we went to Wal-mart; even when we'd be in a rush. One time we're at the register and I had to run and grab one more thing. When I got back what do ya know Dayton's at it again, striking up conversation with the Wal-Mart worker. Literally he knew everything she was doing that weekend for New Years Eve. He's like "she's driving to California tonight to see her family and then driving back a few hours later! Can you believe that!" I thought it was so awesome how he would just nicely make conversation.
I've started following in Dayton's footsteps when I'm alone at the grocery store. I'm slowing down my busy rush to the grocery store and not just loading groceries, rushing to get my card out without making some connection to the person helping me. Sometimes I don't even look at them in the eyes, its pretty pathetic. Even if its a simple conversation over how we like spinach in our smoothies I always leave feeling so much better after I've just slooooweeedddd a bit; interacted with the people in front of me and hopefully made their night a little more pleasant because with out a doubt they always improve my night. (hello I'm blogging about them) I love those conversations at work with nice callers or someone who asks me about my day.
And if those nice conversations aren't quite happy enough I always have the crazy people in Wal-mart to make my day.. Pretty sure I've had some less than proud moments running into Wal-mart looking nuts so its fine.
Dayton's taking french so we can prepare for our trip. There is nothing more adorable than him proving what he's learned that day, or just now, he's doing online french and said "ohh perfect, definitely writing in English." Cant wait to be roaming the streets along the Seine eating a crepe with nutella chatting with my honey. Please please please take me to that fantasy now.
